We are back. What a week. Camp GAP (God's Awesome Promises) was an awesome experience. It was hot and dusty. We walked everywhere. Ran and played when we got there. Drank gallons of water. Then did it all again.
We woke the boys at 6:45am to clean the cabin and get ready for breakfast. Our morning was filled with games (usually outside and mostly running), swimming, Bible study, and worship, then lunch. Afternoons consisted of more games, swimming, mission activity, quiet time (yeah right), dinner, then evening worship.
Music was led by "Uncle" Charlie and Rachel who did some great songs. Our camp pastor for the week was Keith Coast, a self-proclaimed "goober-nugget" who did tricks and magic to illustrate his sermons. The coolest thing he did was to crawl inside of a 4 foot balloon. Ask me later what point he was making. He also hooked his XBOX 360 up to the house projection screens (3 8'-10' screens) and sound system and played "Need for Speed." I was sceptical at first, but he brought everything he did back around to some spiritual application.
We had four kids accept Christ and one surrender to the ministry. I was priviledged enough to counsel one of the kids who invited Christ into his heart. Pray that as the excitement of camp settles, these kids will find someone to disciple them in these early steps with our Lord.
I had two very special moments at camp this year. (Other than counseling one of our decisions.) One happened during Bible study one morning. Our scripture verse was John 3:16 which most of the kids know by heart. Listening to the kids all say this verse together in one strong voice from memory was a really cool moment. The second happened in worship on Thursday night. Uncle Charlie ending the music worship with "Jesus Loves Me" sung accapella. Hearing over 1,000 children's voices raised to God, singing this song literally stopped the words in my mouth. I couldn't do anything but stand and listen because I didn't want to miss the moment.
Leaving was bittersweet. We all knew we would be glad to be home, but we had such a great time. I am looking forward to next year.

It sounds like a great experence. I am glad you two could be there together. The zip line thing will not load, so I will have to see it somewhere else. Did you try it first? The zip line? Or did you just let him fly off into space? Man, don't you know he enjoyed it? Can't wait to hear him tell about it.
And again Happy Birthday yesterday. Bet the "Outback" was great.
Tim did it last year, but Patrick backed out at the last minute. He was determined to do it this year.
Follow the link to Keith Coast's website and see the balloon thing. On the left of his website you'll see a promo video, watch it to see more.
Sounds like you guys had a great time!! I always loved going to church camp every year...I always had a great time!! That zip line looked like lots of fun!!
Patrick, you're so brave!! I'm terrified of heights! That's just too awesome; glad you guys had a good time!
Sounds incredible, Tim! I'm glad you two had a great time and it sounds like a lot of others did as well.
