Summer is officially here and other stuff

Well, it's over....another school year. Patrick made it through one of the worst years he has ever had. This past 6 weeks he has had to struggle to get his grades up to passing, but he did it. Was it the coffee? Who knows, but we sure as heck are going to keep it up next year. For those of you who don't konw, Patrick was diagnosed ADD a few months ago, but instead of doing medication stimulants, we tried caffeine (or however you spell it). Anyway, it seemed to have done the trick. Yippee!!
Elizabeth had a good year, although it seems she discovered her mouth these past few weeks. But that okay, that's normal. We'll have to address that next year, I'm sure. She started out having a good first last day of school until they were out on the playground. She was running and fell and busted her nose pretty good. It bled and was swollen. I just happened to be at the bandhall helping Tim & Bobby paint their office when the nurse called. She was pretty miserable most of the day. She's not up yet, so I don't know what it's like today. Trying to decide if I need to take her to the doctor. She can breath through it okay, it's just swollen. Any suggestions? :)
Patrick's baptism went off okay. Papaw got to come over and perform the baptism. His voice cracked a time or two, but he muscled through it.
Elizabeth's recital is next Friday night. I'm more nervous this year than any other. Laurie, her teacher, has told us that they don't know the dances that they are supposed to do and that she doesn't stand off to the side and dance with them like she has done the past two years. She said with this age they should know it by now. The few times that she has demonstrated what they know has been awful. They all know about the first 30 seconds or so of the dance and then just stand around looking at each other. If she lets them do that on stage in front of hundreds of people, I'm going to be pretty upset. Some of the girls were so devastated that they broke down in tears. I haven't heard a report lately on how they are doing. I'm going to try to talk to Laurie on Tuesday and see how they are doing. Pray for us.
Jacob had his shots Wednesday. You'd think we chopped a leg off the way he was acting. He wanted to be carried everywhere or he would crawl or limp around. He was so funny. Needless to say, he didn't like having shots either. Other than that he's doing great. He's looking forward to having Bubby, Sissy and Daddy home for the summer.
We are getting ready to have the countertops in the kitchen replaced. We had a guy come over Tuesday to give us an estimate. Hadn't heard back from Lowe's yet, but hopefully today we will. We are going to paint the cabinets and the dining room. Any volunteers?
Geez, this is getting long. I went to the doctor the other day as well. My bloodpressure is fine, my cholesterol is up. He said that it's slightly elevated and that he didn't need to put me on medicine, just watch my diet. I also have bersitis in my right shoulder. I can't put my right arm behind my back at all. He gave me some muscle relaxers for that and is going to send me to a physical therapist a couple of times for some exercises. Hopefully, within a week or two it should be back to normal.
Can anyone tell me how to get Tim added to this blog so that he can post an occational post? I tried adding him, but the server out school keeps rejecting the email and I can't add him with our home address because I'm already there. I told him he may just have to post under my name and say that it's from him.
Well, I guess I have come to the end of my news. Whew!!
Take care and we love you and will see most of you next weekend. Yippee!! ;)

Melissa

PS I forgot to tell ya'll that Patrick made "commended" on 2 out of 3 sections on the TAKS test this year. He missed it by 1 point on the 3rd section. That is a very big accomplishment and we are proud of him.

I am sorry about your shoulder. I have had trouble with both of mine. Keep them moving and don't let them freeze up. Also my elbo.
I am glad P made it through. I guess you mean that he passed. Good for him. I am proud of him.
Poor little J. Those darn shots do hurt, don't they. Sounds like he was in need of a lot of sympthy.
If E and the girls are not getting it, there is something wrong with her teaching system. It is time to let her go. I know the girls are a little older, but they are still just six or at least she is.
I am going to Megans graduation with Wes and Jan tonight.
Much love.

Way to go Patrick, keep up the hard work.
Yeah I would have to say the girls still need a little bit of help...they are all still pretty young after all. Maybe you should learn the dances and dance with the girls ;)
I'm with you Jacob shots are bad!! I got one in the jaw about a week ago and I was sore for 3 days! Needles in general are just scary!
Hope your shoulder gets to feeling better!
The school may have blogspot.com blocked...Paris ISD has it blocked so Joe cant go to the blogs while he is at work so that could be the case.

I know Patrick (and Tim most likely!) is sooo happy to be done with another year. Tell him we're proud of him for working so hard. I should let you and Liz watch the tape of my sister's dance recital some time. She was a little older than Liz, like 8 I think, but it's HILARIOUS! The girls got through the ballet and tap routines alright, but they completely fell apart on the jazz piece. I think every single one of them was doing something different, until all of them finally just kind of stood around while only one girl continued to dance. Know who it was? My little sister!! Oh don't get me wrong, it was totally awful and so not the routine they learned...but she never quit dancing. It was mortifying at the time, but we have a good laugh about it now. Elizabeth will be beautiful and awesome, and you guys are gonna have a great time. Trust me. And I have to say, Aidan is totally feelin' Jacob on those icky shots! Although he's not quite as dramatic about it as Jacob is. That's hilarious!! As mean as it sounds to take advantage of your kid's pain, you should really get it on camera or something. ;) Hope your shoulder gets better, too, Meliss! I worked at the PT clinic here in Paris for a couple of years. The important thing is to stay consistant with your exercises. Don't skip days or push yourself too hard. See ya next weekend!
