I know my posts have been few this fall. This tends to be a pretty busy time for me so I've fallen behind. As you can see, there is new video of the kids above. Jacob is premiering in his first blog performance and E and P are returning with their usual talents. On the family homefront, this has been a great Christmas for us so far. Melissa and I kept pretty close to budget on the Christmas shopping thanks to our Christmas account and some timely bonuses.
This year more than ever our family traditions felt like tradition. We put up the tree and hang ornaments one at a time, remembering the significance of each one. Last year it dawned on me that every ornament on our tree has a story or a memory. I love that. I think it imbues our tree trimming ritual with a touch of the sacred. After all, we celebrate Christmas to remember the birth of our Lord and Savior. Why not remember those whom we have touched and have touched us. It enriches the meaning of this time of year.
We also went out Christmas lighting tonight. Another tradition that goes back to our dating days. (Do I know how to show a girl a good time cheap or what!?) Only in Texas can you see burnt orange longhorns lit up in someones lawn for Christmas. I love it. I love this time of year. I hope you do, too. What greater things to celebrate than the birth of hope and redemption.
For those I'll see and those I won't...Merry, Joyful, Hopeful Christmas. Amen

I love Christmas, too, Tim. The tree, the cookies, the music...it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. This is really the first year Aidan's been able to take an active roll in the holiday. He helped hang ornaments on the tree, baked cookies with me, and he loves to look at the Christmas lights. Everything is, "Wow!" and "Look, Mommy, look!" There's no doubt this year has been the most special for us so far. Christmas just takes on a whole new meaning when you're viewing it through the eyes of a child, ya know?
I know what you mean. Try starting some traditions of your own. Just for your family. In a few years, you won't be able to get through the holidays without them. Good to see you guys.
You started another tradition last year. Making ginger bread cookies. The kids really did enjoy that. This year you made salt dough and created tree ornements. The kids did some great ones, you and Melissa also. Why didn't we make memories like that with our kids? They were just not intrested I guess.
I am proud of all that you all do and the ceremony of the Christmas Story on Christmas Eve. Beautiful!! Then Hot Chocolate for all.
I look forward to it all again next year.
